Post-Christmas meal
Quorn pasta bake, falafels and vegetarian Caesar salad.

Mmm... Let it never be said the vegetarian option fountain runneth dry.

Meat is Murder
Heifer whines could be human cries
Closer comes the screaming knife
This beautiful creature must die
This beautiful creature must die
A death for no reason
And death for no reason is murder

And the flesh you so fancifully fry
Is not succulent, tasty or kind
It’s death for no reason
And death for no reason is murder

And the calf that you carve with a smile
Is murder
And the turkey you festively slice
Is murder
Do you know how animals die ?

Kitchen aromas aren’t very homely
It’s not comforting, cheery or kind
It’s sizzling blood and the unholy stench
Of murder

It’s not natural, normal or kind
The flesh you so fancifully fry
The meat in your mouth
As you savour the flavour
Of murder

No, no, no, it’s murder
No, no, no, it’s murder
Oh ... and who hears when animals cry ?

International Volunteering!!!

Interested in volunteering abroad this summer?

We have projects running in Ecuador, India, Cambodia, Uganda, Bulgaria, North America & Poland! Doing construction work, teaching, sex education and AIDS awareness, working with children with learning disabilities, conservation projects, working with orphans and street children...and lots more.

Project meeting: This Friday, 3rd December, 5pm
Muirhead Tower, main lecture theatre (G08).

One off meeting, don't miss the opportunity, it could change your life! (or at least your summer, plus its great work experience for the CV, and a chance to travel...)

Hannah :-)

Annoying
This is extremely annoying. It's a thread about the foxhunting ban with hounds. Everyone seems to be so anti-ban. However to view it you do have to register.

You are looking at...
...the new Vice Chair of the Ethical and Environmental Committee. This week has rocked and has been a lot of fun. Pictures will be up on the Veg Soc website soon. There's a Veg Soc social on Monday (click for more info).

World Vegan Day
Hello

It is world vegan day on November 1st (a week today), and National Vegan Week starts this saturday. I just wondered if anyone knew if anything is happening in Bham to celebrate it? I think the Birmingham Vegetarian and Vegan Society are organising a coach trip to the Bristol Vegan Fair but I thought there may be something going in Birmingham? If anyone has heard anything please could they met me know.

Thanks,
Laura

Ummmm.....
Seen in Pronto in University Centre last week:
A corned beef & branston pickle sandwich with a "suitable for vegetarians" sticker on it.
It could have been an absent-minded mistake-but I'm far too cynical to think that!

Famous Veggie Quotes
Whilst looking for things to help with my previous post about an Ethical and Environment week I came across this site about famous Vegetarian people. There are also some quotes. I'll post a few of the ones I liked:

PinkCollapse )

Bhagavad GitaCollapse )

Steven SpielbergCollapse )

I haven't read through them all yet, plus I would be overly spamming if I posted all the ones I liked.
